Fantastic news this week as the secure Drupal site I built for fellow Genius Lillian Hetet-Owen for her teaching Māori weaving to women prisoners programme made it as a finalist in the New Zealand Open Source Awards 2018.

For two years Lillian had been liaising with various governmental departments to get the project going so that women prisoners could have the chance to trade a skill upon their release. Given the final go-ahead for the project Lillian then faced the problem of potentially costly development of a site which could both deliver the online training modules and be secure enough to pass the stringent tests. Through the Entrepreneurs Institute Entrepreneur Mentor Certification programme Lillian met Steve Purkiss, a specialist in the Free/Libre Open Source platform Drupal who used his extensive knowledge of the platform to build a secure server and system which passed the tests first time and is delivering training to women in prisons across New Zealand.

Lillian will be attending the awards ceremony in October where we hope more good news will occur!
