Roger has posted a great article on his facebook feed this morning about Alex Tew, creator of the Million Dollar Homepage and subsequent startups.

In the article, Roger mentions @Calm, the mindfulness company. I came across this 5 min video of Alex talking about how he used social to grow 100,000 users for free:

What do you think about his strategy ("Creating something that is even more viral than the product itself") in order to draw peoples attention to you. Seth Godin's Purple Cow. When I hear this story from Alex, I think about one Roger tells about how to find a Billionaire... "just look for the group of Millionaires, and there she will be, right in the center."

Has anyone in the @wealth circle experimented with Gamification to draw attention to something & build subscriptions or revenue? Would you like to share your results?

I experimented with this strategy in around 2013. At the time we were running an event 3 hours flight for my target audience (The time it takes to fly from my place to the Sydney Convention Center in Darling Harbour). I wanted to engage a niche audience to register interest in the event & build a funnel to ultimately have them pay their way over to attend. At the time I was getting pretty handy with Construct2, a very easy & fun Gamification tool, so I wrote a Flappy-Birds take off in which the player had to fly from Auckland to Sydney avoiding clouds, then register their interest in the conference (I had some other give-aways too).
My success pretty much followed the standard curve of marketing engagement... and failed to go viral although the people who did try it really loved the approach and it was a valuable production & engagement experience for me.

In the video, Alex talks about the key ingredient of a Meme to unlock a posts capacity to go viral. On your own path, what are the most memorable Memes you have created or been captivated by that have moved you to sign-up, share, or go into 'super-man time'?

Love to hear, please take a moment to post below.
