Mentor experience

I have always mentored & coached people around me. Over the past 15 years I have been formally mentoring women through interest groups in Australia as well as teaching tech and entrepreneurship in high schools. INDIVIDUALS I love giving back and have developed programs and processes that work well for people who are underrepresented in tech. Based on my own background, I particularly reach out to women, but I work with anyone who needs a hand up in the industry. ENTREPRENEURS & BUSINESSES Having spent most of the past 30 years working "the big end of town" of software development, streamlining organisations for product innovation through agile, user centric processes, I am keen to transition this expertise to help entrepreneurs and businesses tackle the tech world. In addition to mentoring individual on a personal level, I work with entrepreneurs and business owners to take the complexity out of tech and make sure they get the most out of technology to support their business growth. This could be as simple as helping them "speak geek" so that they can communicate with their tech partners and get more accurate estimates and deliverables. One of my favourite activities is when help my clients articulate the problems they need to solve by taking them through a user centric discovery and scoping stage that results in a prioritised set of requirements that will inform the development and implementation stages, thus reducing risk and cost. Finally, I help my clients source the right team to deliver the solution and help manage the delivery. This is an agile, collaborative approach with extensive focus on quality.
