Mentor experience
Peter began his career as a chemist with an International printing ink company (Sericol) developing speciality inks for plastic during which time he developed his people and team building skills. In 1976 Peter moved from the technical to the sales & marketing arena when he joined the UK subsidiary of the American Bee Chemical Co ($100M) where he quickly honed his sales, marketing & management skills eventually attaining the position of European Group Manager. He gained international experience with extensive involvement with the operations in USA, France, Germany and Japan. The company was acquired in the late 1980’s by another American company – Morton Thiokol ($5 Billion) famous for its salt brand and manufacturing the booster rockets for the NASA Space shuttle program. Peter gained experience of mergers, relocations, business re-engineering, acquisitions, disposals and multinational people management during his role as European Group Manager. The UK business was later merged with a new joint venture between Morton and Japan’s largest coatings company – Nippon Paints when Peter gained the position of Vice President to manage the operation known as NBC UK Ltd. Shortly following this Morton decided to exit the UK market and agreement was reached with Nippon to acquire Morton’s shareholding to form a new 100% owned subsidiary known as NPAE. Peter was appointed General Manager to manage the transition. In 1997 Peter was invited to join a privately owned Swiss speciality chemical distributor – Siber Hegner (CHF1.5Billion) to develop its chemical business utilising his Japanese experience. Peter accepted the challenge and success led to both global and business unit management roles. In 2001 the company merged with another Swiss company Diethelm Keller to form DKSH - the largest privately owned company in Switzerland (CHF6Billion). At this time Peter was appointed as Managing Director of the new organisation’s UK subsidiary to manage the transition and was successful in maintaining both business development and continuous growth. Peter’s success has been directly attributable to his ability to build successful teams through his people development skills particularly coaching and mentoring. This passion led Peter in 2009 to establish his own business services consultancy – Lynagh Associates supporting business owners/SMEs to achieve their goals and developing the best from their people. Lynagh Associates became a licensee of the Academy for Chief Executives with Peter taking on the role of Academy Chairman and following his success Peter became Founder & CEO of the Academy for Business Leaders & Entrepreneurs – ABLE. Peter lives in Surbiton, Surrey and is married with four children.
