Calling all souls

You will not change your world by what you do, you will change it by who you are and who you become. Doing follows being. Matter follows energy. We think people change the world by what they do. They don’t. It is the energy behind their actions that changes the world. We obsess over what we do, because our first five senses create the illusion this is what matters. It doesn’t.

What attracts us to Roger isn't what he does—it is who is he is while he is doing it. It is his energy, his level of consciousness.

What attracted thousands of Indians to follow Mahatma Gandhi during his Salt March across India wasn’t what he did—it was who he became. What stopped civil war in South Africa at the end of Apartheid wasn’t the Truth and Reconciliation Commission that Nelson Mandela enacted—it was who he became while he was in jail. Inside, often in solitary confinement, he freed himself from the constraints of the box. He burst the iron shackles society imposed on him. He became who he is, and others saw themselves in Mandela’s struggle.

So, who are you going to become? The system your ancestors created 5,000 years ago is no longer fit for purpose. It was the greatest success story this planet has ever seen. What we have created during this time is phenomenal. However, if we continue to use this system for the next fifty years, humanity will go extinct. Its success is predicated on the principle of extracting capital and raw materials. This worked for the vast majority of these 5,000 years. The ends—growth—justified the means. Now, they don’t. The Industrial Revolution and the Internet have accelerated the principle of extraction to such an extent, it has led to unsustainable inequalities and climate change. We need to rethink, reimagine and recreate the system so our children and grandchildren can create the next 5,000 year cycle. We will not do this through what we do, no matter how hard we try. We will change them through who we become.

What stops us is the beliefs that aren't aligned with who we are... our beliefs about money, time, power and love. 

We grew up in a society which believes:

• Generating money is hard work or dirty and without money we can't be free or secure;
• Time is linear and there's never enough of it;
• We can give and receive love;
• We are either creative or supportive or good at organizing rather than we are all of it.

In the second half of the session, I will help you to reclaim your relationship to whicheve of these elements stops you the most.
