What a great video infographic. Interesting to see the similarities and differences in the naming of the skills sets across various countries with inclusion of the OECD and UNESCO. Being Australian, I'm familiar with the 'general capabilities' and 'employability skills' (probably close to the ' enterprise skills'). I do like the 'transversal competencies' of UNESCO as they do align with the work I'm involved in with Genius School.

Reachout.com is an Australian based organisation providing great support to young people and parents right now during the disruption, caused by coronavirus, to kid's learning. They address the emotional issues as well as provide strategies to deal with the constant change.

During the first week when kids in Australia were able to go back to school it wasn't for the education but for the social connection with their friends. I will be interested in following this three-phase study into the views and experiences of young people in Australia living through the pandemic.

Yes - I'm curious what the long-term implications of this are as well. When I was young, we were not only outside all the time, but our parents rarely knew where we were, and the range of motion was broader and broader as we grew older, until I was running 10 miles to school and back in high school. Over the decades we have put more and more restrictions on the mobility of our children from organized sports to planned play dates. It may have been great for parents to have complete control so they didn't have to worry about the safety of their children, but now kids aren't even allowed to go outside. I am very concerned with the long-term effects this has on their psyche - their independence and sense of self-confidence - when they actually have to go out into the world and leave their parents behind.

I recall that growing up in Australia, my peers and I would have complete freedom to range our neighbourhoods, as long as we were home by dark. We made billy-carts and pushed each other around the neighbourhood for hours on end. We played in each other's yards and were fed by whoever's mother had us at that time. We rode pushbikes to school from very young ages. At one point I travelled on two connecting trains and a tram to and from school, leaving for school when it was dark and arriving home from school when it was dark. Today, many would have called us feral, but that was how kids did their childhood in our time. We lived in urban villages, and everyone know everyone. Today, you are really doing well if you know the people either side of your home. Friends and acquaintances are often digitally connected. It would be very interesting to find out the long term consequences of socially distanced lifestyles.
