The possibility of space exploration is on the horizon! It’s been nearly half a century since humans left footprints on the moon and during that time, human space exploration has largely centered on manned low-Earth orbit missions and unmanned scientific exploration.

Today’s space race is focused on delivering innovations that advance the performance and capabilities of critical equipment. The revenue generated by the global space industry may increase to more than $1 trillion by 2040. This has led to a drive by the industry’s leading players to identify technologies and product enhancements that will offer a competitive edge. And now, high levels of private funding, advances in technology and growing public-sector interest is renewing the call to look toward the stars.

A handful of billionaires are working hard to make space colonisation a reality. Today, entrepreneurs like Elon Musk and Richard Branson have launched a new race to space, developing plans to launch private spacecrafts in the imminent future.

There’s no doubt, after all, that it’s coming!

Elon Musk has revealed he plans to send the first SpaceX craft to Mars by 2022, with humans following within the next four to six years.

Also an ambitious startup is sending a pair of 5.5 pound, remotely-controlled racecars to the lunar surface to hold the first ever car race on the Moon, New Atlas reports — and a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will help them get there as soon as October 2021.
