Perhaps a little late to the game, I've recently become a huge fan of Brené Brown and her studies on shame and vulnerability. As the student, I suppose I am ready and so, as the teacher, she appears.

On that note, today's post is for the Red-level entrepreneurs. Have you noticed that on our Impact test results, the emotions that we deal with on this level are struggle, blame, and denial? And the cost of these emotions are exhaustion, resignation, and life repeating itself? Can we be any more vulnerable than that? Let's not even talk about the moments of shame.

That's not a good reality to be faced with, is it?

For most parts, we've become the Scarlet Letter of the GeniusU community as the bunch who haven't quite got it together yet. While our years of experience are not reflected in our cash flow, we are at our most vulnerable as we learn from our past mistakes as we create a new reality.

Yet here's the absolute beauty of being a Red: “Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity, and change,” says Ms Brown.

In agreement, I can say without a doubt that some of the most brilliant, creative minds I've dealt with on this platform are red-level entrepreneurs. For one, I think they've mastered the art of staring failure squarely in the face and saying, "I dare you!"

As for myself, I'm becoming comfortable with being vulnerable. Seemingly contradictory, the very nature of vulnerability is the extreme discomfort we feel when we show up despite our flaws, insecurities, and fears... but that's where the bravery lies. That's where we give ourselves permission to innovate, create, and change.  As part of my journey, I'm becoming comfortable with being uncomfortable as I give myself permission to be authentically me.

So to my fellow Reds, you rock! And to the rest of you colourful bunch who provide a safe, supportive, inspiring environment for us to flourish, a big big thank you.

I invite you to come along with me on the 21-Day Abundance Challenge where we rise to the challenge of being 100% unapologetically vulnerable.  This is where we write the new story for our lives and we practice it daily for 21 days so that it has no choice to become our new reality.

If you're feeling brave—and remember, you can't be brave without being vulnerable—follow the instructions and post your new story in the comments below. I'm working on mine!
